Middle School Wrestling
The Next Step
Wanted: All sixth, seventh and eighth grade students that are looking for a challenge. Meyer Middle School along with students from St. Bridget's, Montessori Academy, Heartland Montessori and home school programs are highly encouraged to participate.
The booster club operates the youth Pre-K through 8th grade program. Although this program specifically includes the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade middle school athletes, the "WIAA school program" supersedes their involvement in the (youth) program until later in the season. The middle school season concludes with the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation Youth Folkstyle Tournament in Madison.
Our first "school season" practice begins on Monday, Mid-December 2010 at the Meyer Middle School in the lower level multi-purpose room. There are some early season open tournament opportunities prior to this date; however, during the "school season", per WIAA, athletes cannot participate in any open tournaments. Open tournament participation and competition is encouraged both before and after the "school season".

Middle School Tournament
Friday, February 4, 2011
As of 04-15-2010, this event is still tentatively scheduled. We host a middle school tournament on Friday night February 4. This is a great event for all 6, 7 and 8th grade wrestlers from the area. Last season we had 135+ area wrestlers competing. Competition is great and the atmosphere is electric. Note: all RF varsity wrestlers are expected to help setup and work this event. Set up starts at approximately 3:30 PM and wrestling starts at 4:30 PM. For the first part of the event, the varsity high school team will work the tables, do the set up and help throughout. The varsity team wrestling in the Big Rivers-Dunn St. Croix conference tournament in the morning are asked to leave at around 8:00 to get a good night sleep and to focus on their championships in the morning. The high school junior varsity wrestlers will be in Menomonie Friday night for their own JV conference tournament.

Every year we host a super tournament. We should conclude around 2:30 PM. This is a folkstyle event. Pre-K up to and including 8th grade. Throughout the season, this event will be a priority focus for entire-team participation.
We have adopted and implemented over 20 suggestions and ideas for improvement from the 2010 event. All ideas are to improve the overall quality of every aspect of the tournament.

Kids Folkstyle Regional Tournament
Saturday, March 12, 2011
This fantastic tournament is a “qualifier” for the WWF Kids Folkstyle State tournament. The state tourney is held two weeks later in March at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. The top two place winners in each age and weight classes qualify for entry and participation in the state tournament. All wrestlers born 1996 and after are encouraged to participate. This is truly a taste for a higher level of competition and is a large tournament held right here in River Falls. Youth wrestlers are encouraged to talk with the coach and director about this tournament.
Coaching will be available but not guaranteed at this event.
