All about the numbers

Our Wrestling program is no different from any other volunteer-run organization: the more hands that help, the better the program will run.  When compared to the Football, Soccer, and Basketball programs, we are a relatively small organization - making it essential for every family to participate in some way, especially at our home tournaments.  We pride ourselves in NOT having "mandatory volunteering" as part of the athlete's participation in the program.  We encourage volunteers but the decision to help is always up to you.

Calling all Volunteers

Our club could not survive and flourish without the help of our dedicated families.  Our club has grown not only in number but in strength as well.  We truly need volunteers whether they are parents, alumni or fans.  Wrestling is as much an individual sport as it is a family-involved sport.  The home events above do not happen automatically.  Every event requires the help of dozens of dedicated volunteers.

Your Invitation

For all parents, this is your invitation to help us out.  We found that unless folks asked outright, people would not step forward to volunteer.  We truly understand that you are busy; many have children in different activities and the ever-present conflicting schedules.  We all work and we all have the same 24 hours in a day.

No Experience Required

There is no experience is required to help.  Every amount of time that you can commit - will help.  Please inquire and have confidence that you will never be put into a situation where “you are on your own”.  If you ask any “experienced or seasoned” parent, they will likely say that the most they ever learned about the sport – happened while helping at a tournament.  Again, this does not require great skill or expertise.  We just need interested persons to lend their time and hands.  There is no sugar coating it - it is work.

Specific Needs

Tasks include setting up for a tournament, registration & admissions, cashier, weigh-ins, concessions, score-keepers, clock managers, table runners, clean up and many others miscellaneous tasks.  Note: if your child is wrestling or about to wrestle, we will find a way to relieve you so you can watch the match.

Contact

Please contact Carlos Figi to sign up, volunteer, donate or to ask questions or inquire about any specific area.  On the day of the event, just track me down and I'll point you in the right direction.  Cell phone on the day of the event would be best.

Northern Badger Wrestling Classic Tournament
Tuesday, December 29 and Wednesday, December 30

We need volunteers and donations for our biggest event of the season.  The list below reflects only those that have specifically contacted and confirmed their service or intent to help.  We realize there are some folks that are perennial volunteers; however, please confirm so we can schedule and allocate personnel accordingly.  For those that have already committed your time and labor – a sincere “Thank You”!

Middle School Tournament [Triple Header Weekend Event #1]
Friday, February 5, 2010

We host a middle school tournament on Friday night.  Set up starts at approximately 3:30 PM and wrestling starts at 4:30 PM.  For the first part of the event, the varsity high school team will work the tables, do the set up and help throughout.  These same group of kids have their own Big Rivers-Dunn St. Croix conference tournament in the morning so they are asked to leave at around 8:00 to get a good night sleep and to focus on their championships in the morning.  The high school junior varsity wrestlers will be in Menomomie Friday night for their own JV conference tournament.
