VOLUNTEERS

We always need volunteers for every single event; however, there are times where we truly need help in specific areas or additional numbers in one particular area.

All About the Numbers

Our Wrestling program is no different from any other volunteer-run organization: the more hands that help, the better the program will run.  When compared to the Football, Soccer, and Basketball programs, we are a relatively small organization - making it essential for every family to participate in some way, especially at our home tournaments.  We pride ourselves in NOT having "mandatory volunteering" as part of the athlete's participation in the program.  We encourage volunteers but the decision to help is always up to you.

Calling All Volunteers

Our club could not survive and flourish without the help of our dedicated families.  Our club has grown not only in numbers - but in strength as well.  We truly need volunteers - whether they are parents, alumni or fans.  Wrestling is as much an individual sport as it is a family-involved sport.  The home events above do not happen automatically.  Every event requires the help of dozens of dedicated volunteers.

Your Invitation

For all parents, this is your official invitation to help.  We found that unless folks are asked outright, people would not step forward to volunteer.  We truly understand that you are busy; many have children in different activities and the ever-present conflicting schedules.  We all work and we all have the same 24 hours in a day.

No Experience Required

There is no experience is required to help.  Every amount of time that you can commit - will help.  Please inquire and have confidence that you will never be put into a situation where “you are on your own”.  If you ask any “experienced or seasoned” parent, they will likely say that the most they ever learned about the sport – happened while helping at a tournament.  Again, this does not require great skill or expertise.  We just need interested persons to lend their time and hands.  There is no sugar coating it - it is work.

Specific Needs

We need your help with our tournaments.  The typical tournament tasks include setting up ahead of the tournament, registration & admissions, cashier, weigh-ins, concessions, score-keepers, clock managers, table runners, clean up and many others miscellaneous tasks.  Note: if your child is wrestling or about to wrestle, we will find a way to relieve you so you can watch the match with your undivided attention.

Flexibility

Not everyone can commit for the full amount of time; however, every amount of time and help will be accepted.  Just let us know when you can come and how long you can be there.  We are flexible.

Contact

Please contact Justin Bystrom or fill out the form below to sign up, volunteer, and donate or to ask questions or inquire about any specific area.  On the day of the event, just track me down and I will point you in the right direction.  Cell phone on the day of the event is always best.

The Hidden Perks of Helping

Lending a hand after hours may make your day job more enjoyable.  Researchers from the University of Konstanz in Germany studied more than 100 people who worked five days a week and volunteered for about seven hours weekly.  What they found: Work felt less burdensome the day after a volunteer stint – even if the unpaid duties, like fire and rescue work, were not exactly relaxing.  The study suggests that if you really want to shed job stress, vegging out may not be the best way to do it, says lead author Eva J. Mojza, PhD.  Challenging extracurricular activities will yank your attention away from the demands of your career and send you back to work with the satisfaction of a job well done.
